My herald stopped working / the office says Suspended

An office pauses while its holder has a conflicting job: governing a settlement, leading their own party, or owning a caravan. The status line says which. Free them of the duty and the office restores itself within a day.

I can't appoint anyone

The picker only offers adult companions and clan family who are free to serve (see above) and present to be appointed. The player never serves - you command.

I don't have a fief - is the mod doing anything?

Yes: merit banks from your battles from day one, and "See to your retinue" in any friendly or neutral town or castle lets you ennoble veterans and grant commissions. The governance layer (offices, settlement support, intrigue) unlocks when you own your first town or castle.

A veteran is "ready to elevate" but I can't find where

Before a fief: "See to your retinue" in a friendly town or castle. After: that menu still works, or consult the Master Herald at your Clan Home (Household matters, "Review Veterans for Elevation").

Why did my companion's skills drop?

A revoked commission reclaims the invested skill package (everything earned in service is kept). That is the deal the clan makes: the investment follows the office, the experience follows the person.

Do I need to restart after changing settings?

No. Settings apply in-session; the office bonus caches refresh within the in-game hour. The one exception is the finance model mode, which takes effect on the next campaign load (its hint says so).

Text shows in English in my language

Untranslated keys fall back to English. Corrections and new translations are community-contributed - see Translations.

Something crashed

Hearth & Herald wraps its systems in fail-soft guards, so a hard crash is usually another mod or a load-order issue. Check Documents/Mount and Blade II Bannerlord/Configs/ModLogs/DevoidAxis.HearthHerald.log and post it (Nexus Posts or Discord) with your game version and mod list.

Where do I report a bug properly?

The public tracker: github.com/DevoidAxis/hearth-herald-issues. It has bug and feature templates, takes screenshots and log attachments, and keeps the follow-up in one thread. Quick questions still work fine on the Nexus Posts tab or Discord.
