Getting Started

Install

  1. Install Bannerlord Harmony, ButterLib, UIExtenderEx, and Mod Configuration Menu (the standard BUTR stack).
  2. Install Hearth & Herald from Nexus.
  3. Launch through BLSE (the Bannerlord Software Extender), not the plain vanilla launcher.
  4. Load order: Harmony first, then ButterLib, UIExtenderEx, MCM, the native modules, then Hearth & Herald.

The mod supports game versions 1.2.9 and 1.3.14 through 1.4.1; the right assembly is picked automatically. It is save-safe to add mid-campaign, and a "Prepare save for uninstall" button in Mod Options makes removal save-safe too.

Your first hour with the mod

Recruit as you walk - talking to a villager or townsfolk offers "Enter my service": the person you addressed joins your household as a companion, for a coin cost (your Muster Herald discounts it later).

Before you own land - from any town or castle you can stand openly in, open "See to your retinue". There you can ennoble veterans who have earned enough battle merit and grant commissions to your companions. See Field Clan Building.

Your first fief - the settlement automatically becomes your Clan Home and a Master Herald takes up residence in the keep. Talk to them (or use the settlement menu) to reach the full action surface: settlement support, military coordination, appointments, intrigue, and reports.

Staff the offices - appoint companions or adult family members as Exchequer, Watch, Muster, and Arms heralds. They station at your seat like governors and their bonuses scale with their skill. See The Clan Home & Offices.

The loop in one paragraph

Fight battles; your troop types bank merit per kill. Ennoble the proven ones into companions, shape their skills if you like, and commission the best into careers that grow them further while they serve. Staff your offices with the people you raised, and let the household run recruitment, income, warnings, and intrigue while you campaign.
